Café ERA (Kavárna ERA)

The ERA café belongs to the pearls of Brno’s functionalism and together with Villa Tugendhat and Hotel Avion form a trio that is worth a visit.

The ERA café was built in the years 1927-1929 according to the project of the architect Josef Kranz, who at that time belonged to the studio of Bohuslav Fuchs. The building was designed for Josef Špunar, who used the 2nd floor as a private apartment, the ground floor and the 1st floor as a café and restaurant.

This café perfectly complements a trip to Villa Tugendhat, just 5 minutes walking from Mies van der Rohe’s masterpiece you can experience another touristic treasure with all your senses. Café ERA is a charming spot perfect for a middle-of-the-day break to enjoy some food or a quiet corner to sip on your coffee.

Located in calm and very nice neighborhood consisting of other beautiful villas, houses and buildings.

The beautiful and unique interior is a wonderful example of Brno modernism, showcasing a timeless and functionalistic design that is both stylish and inviting. The functionalistic approach to its design ensures that the space is not only stylish but also clean and uncluttered.

The café serves as a wonderful example of the city’s architectural heritage, making it a unique place for the architecture enthusiasts. Café ERA is a place where time stands still, allowing you to live the moment and appreciate the beauty of Brno’s modernist tradition. Café ERA is a timeless treasure in the city’s rich café scene.
